New Feature Release - Tag Manager
Tag Manager is a new SignStix feature that gives administrators control over tag creation. When enabled, only users with administrator permissions can create tags, while other users choose from a predefined list. This reduces typos, improves playlist accuracy, and helps ensure every screen receives the intended content.
What is Tag Manager in SignStix?
Tag Manager is designed to make tags easier and safer to manage in SignStix . It introduces a controlled process for creating and applying tags within Tag Controlled Playlists.
Previously, users could type tags manually. Although flexible, manual entry created opportunities for spelling mistakes, inconsistent naming, or accidental variations. For example,
london-store
,
London-store
, and
london stores
may appear similar to a person but behave as different tags in a system.
With Tag Manager enabled:
- Administrators create and maintain the approved tag list.
- Other users select tags from a predefined drop-down menu.
- Tag names remain consistent across playlists and screens.
- The risk of incorrect content targeting is reduced.
- Teams can manage signage more confidently at scale.
Why do accurate tags matter for digital signage?
Tags help SignStix determine which content should appear on particular screens, devices, locations, or audiences. They are especially important when a business uses Tag Controlled Playlists to deliver targeted content automatically.
A tag might represent:
- A store, office, or geographic region
- A department or internal audience
- A screen type or device group
- A campaign, promotion, or season
- A product category or customer segment
When tags are applied correctly, the right content can reach the right screen without requiring every playlist to be managed individually. This is valuable for organisations operating many locations or frequently changing their digital signage content.
An incorrect tag can have the opposite effect. A screen may miss an important announcement, display an outdated promotion, or receive content intended for another location. Tag Manager helps prevent these issues at the point where tags are created and selected.
Users looking for practical guidance can visit the SignStix Support area or contact your allocated account manager.
