SignStix® Founder Nick Fearnley delivers a guided tour of the technology experiences on offer

On the 16th March, SignStix® was delighted to host their first ever technology showcase, taking place at Harrogate's Everyman Cinema.

Offering an exclusive opportunity for SignStix's® partner network to catch a sneak peek of the hotly-anticipated Director v3.0 platform update, the event also showcased a selection of SignStix's® latest technology innovations, including dynamic menu boards, Lift 'n' Learn technology and proximity-based experiences.

Having been in development for over two and a half years, SignStix® Director v3.0 is a complete remodel of the platform's cloud-based tool for content management. Due for official release on the 23rd March, Director v3.0 will provide end-users with a mobile-first, fully-responsive interface, as well as a whole host of brand new features and enhanced functionality. Features such as the addition of meta data, advanced search filters and generally improved navigation and asset management, will provide end-users with even greater control over how their digital signage estate is managed, as well as much smoother, highly optimised workflow.

SignStix® Board Members were all in attendance during the event - from left to right, Managing Director Martin Brook, Founder Nick Fearnley and CEO Nigel Welch

A variety of SignStix® team members including sales and marketing experts and software developers took part in the event, and were excited to provide guests from SignStix's® wider partner network with a taster session of what to expect from Director v3.0. To help further showcase the SignStix® platform, the event also showcased several technology innovations throughout the day, including:

The 'Welcome' Experience

Upon entering the hub at the Everyman, partners were given name badges to demonstrate how SignStix® can be easily integrated with third-party technology. Through the use of RFID tags, fully customised greetings were displayed to that specific attendee on a welcome screen. Each name badge was programmed with a personalised message, ranging in tone from something more official such as "Thanks very much for coming, Paul!" to the light-hearted "Don't worry, this will soon be over and we can all go to the pub!".

Event attendees collected a name badge containing a hidden RFID tag before entering Everyman's Hub

Lift 'n' Learn/Interactive Zone

To help demonstrate how the SignStix® platform can be used to power a range of interactive experiences, SignStix® set up an 'interactive zone', complete with tablets and a 'Lift 'n' Learn' experience that was powered using the very latest sensory technology. Designed to deliver a personalised, engaging shopping experience, Lift 'n' Learn can be used to help customers identify products that will be most suited to their individual needs. Partners were able to experience this first-hand at the event, with digital content automatically switching based on a specific product being picked up. Featuring pinpoint precision and accuracy, the latest Lift 'n' Learn technology included the ability to detect if an attendee was within a certain distance of the display, and if more than one product was being picked up at the same time.

Digital menu board (with dynamic data)

Powered using SignStix's® Automation Features, the final innovation on display was a digital drinks menu board that used the SignStix® API to dynamically pull data from an external source (in this case, a Google Docs Spreadsheet), to automatically populate digital content based on real-time updates, including menu prices, calorific information and the alcohol percentage of specific beverages.

Following on from the showcase, the SignStix® team invited partners to sample the food and drinks available at The Harrogate Beer Festival held in The Majestic Hotel. It was the perfect way to end the day and to celebrate a successful event after the team's hard work in putting it all together.

Director v3.0 Sneak Peek

As well as transforming Everyman's Hub into an arena for the latest technology innovations, SignStix® also commandeered one of Everyman's cinema screens to deliver an exclusive glimpse of the upcoming v3.0 platform release, as well as discussions around other platform features such as SignStix's tool for signage creation, SignStix® Creator.

We would like to say thank you to all our partners who attended our showcase. We were pleased to see so many of our partners in attendance - we hope you found the event valuable and enjoyed meeting members of our team and each other.

We were also delighted to receive such good feedback after the event took place, including:

Michael Tulip, Philips:
"Great to see the new version of Director v3.0 on Friday. Amazing platform and great to see it go from strength to strength. Proud to be able to offer SignStix® with Philips Android SOC. The ability to take away high end media players and reduce the cost outlay due to performance and capability of the SignStix network is truly amazing. Well done to the SignStix team."

Dean Smith, ITG:
"Big well done to the team at SignStix®. Great event today showcasing Director v3.0 - great to see all the new UI and additional functionality!"
